Humanitarian Support Aid

At Together TISF (Together International Support Foundation), we are dedicated to empowering refugees and immigrants by providing vital information and resources that help ease the transition to life in Canada. Recognizing that each newcomer faces unique challenges, we offer guidance on essential areas such as housing, employment, shelter, food assistance, legal support, and educational enrollment. Through our network of community partners—including employment agencies, food banks, and community centres—we aim to create a comprehensive support system that addresses the immediate and long-term needs of those arriving in Canada. Below, we’ve outlined some key areas of support.

Housing Assistance
One of the primary challenges for newcomers is securing safe and affordable housing. Together TISF provides information on housing resources, from short-term emergency shelters to longer-term rental options. We connect individuals with housing agencies, social housing programs, and supportive housing that can offer stability during their transition. We also offer guidance on tenant rights and responsibilities, helping new residents understand the basics of renting in Canada, how to navigate the rental market, and available financial aid options to ease the process of finding a home.

Employment and Job Placement
Employment is often the first step towards building a stable life, so we focus on providing resources to help newcomers connect with job opportunities. We work closely with employment agencies and job placement centres that specialize in helping immigrants and refugees enter the workforce. Additionally, Together TISF provides referrals to job training programs, resume-building workshops, and interview preparation sessions. By partnering with recruitment firms and employers open to hiring newcomers, we strive to bridge the gap between job seekers and employment opportunities that align with their skills and ambitions.

Access to Shelters and Emergency Housing
For those in need of immediate accommodation, Together TISF offers information about emergency shelters and transitional housing facilities available within the community. These shelters provide a temporary refuge for individuals and families while they work towards finding stable, long-term housing solutions. We connect newcomers with trusted shelters, inform them about available amenities, and offer guidance on next steps after leaving shelter housing.

Food Bank Access and Nutritional Support
No one should go hungry in their new home. Together TISF partners with local food banks and community organizations to ensure that newcomers have access to essential nutrition. Through our collaboration with community food programs, we provide information on nearby food banks, the types of food assistance available, and how to access these services. We also connect families with nutrition education resources to support healthy, affordable food choices as they settle into their new communities.

Immigration and Legal Information
Navigating the immigration process can be overwhelming, which is why Together TISF connects newcomers with experienced immigration lawyers and advisors who offer free consultations and legal assistance. We provide newcomers with resources on legal rights, guidance on visa processes, and assistance with documentation. Through these partnerships, we ensure that refugees and immigrants receive accurate, up-to-date information to make informed decisions about their immigration status.

English Language Courses
Language is key to community integration and employment, so we connect newcomers with English as a Second Language (ESL) programs offered by community centers, schools, and language institutions. These programs range from beginner to advanced levels and help newcomers acquire the language skills they need to feel confident in everyday interactions and workplace settings. Together TISF also provides information about online language learning platforms, making it easier for newcomers to learn English at their own pace.

School Enrolment and Education Support
For families arriving with school-aged children, education is a top priority. Together TISF assists newcomers in navigating the school enrolment process, connecting families with school boards and community centres that offer guidance on the Canadian education system. We provide information on public and private schooling options, special programs for newcomer students, and resources for language and cultural adaptation. By supporting families through the enrolment process, we help ensure that every child has the opportunity to succeed in their new academic environment.

Community Engagement and Social Support
Finally, we recognize that building social connections is a crucial part of feeling at home in a new country. Together TISF organizes community events, support groups, and peer-to-peer mentorship programs that allow newcomers to connect with other families and individuals in similar circumstances. These gatherings provide a safe space for newcomers to share experiences, seek advice, and develop friendships, all of which foster a sense of belonging.

Through our work in each of these areas, Together TISF aims to create a robust support network that uplifts refugees and immigrants as they establish new lives in Canada. We are committed to empowering our new neighbors, providing them with the tools, resources, and community connections they need to thrive.
